She is currently Associate Editor of the Opinion Page at the Columbia Daily Spectator, and she served as Editor-in-Chief of her high school newspaper, Teen Theatre Critic for the Oakland Tribune and ANG Newspapers and contributor to Theatre Bay Area Magazine. The last two summers she worked as an Apprentice at Berkeley Repertory Theatre, where she was Director of the Berkeley Rep Teen Council in high school. She is also a Barnard Bartender.

She is unsure of just exactly what she plans to do at Barnard, but is interested in literature, political science, and ethnomusicology. She has a passion for the arts, and is having a good time exploring New York City.

Head Copy-Editor

Julia Phillips, '10
is an English major and Russian minor. She likes traveling and comic books.

Copy-Editor, Head Copy-Editor Fall 2008

Elizabeth Keene, '11
is wildly hoping to become an English major with a concentration in Creative Writing. Bravely facing the question of what one can possibly do with such a degree, she has set her sights on becoming a writer of novels and perhaps poetry, with some possible magazine work on the side, to pay for food and shelter. Her great loves include books of all sorts (especially A Room With a View and Cyrano de Bergerac), ballet, Pablo Nerudafs poetry, chocolate, and gargoyles

Copy-Editor

Morgan Davies '12
is a Barnard freshman from Massachusetts. She is planning on majoring in English with a concentration in Film. Her hobbies include writing and photography.

Echoes Graduates

Founder

Alexandra Loizzo, '09
was a "hardcore" English major, with minors in Psychology and Spanish and Latin American Cultures. She was also the president of Columbia's C.A.S.A. (Cuban and American Student Association). Her favorite words include "epiphany," "chortle," and "passion." She is also a closet theater geek. Some of her many mild obsessions include: Alice in Wonderland, Harry Potter, Gone With the Wind, Les Miserables, and the smell of new books.

Mary Borovicka, '08

Former Co-Editor-in-Chief and Publicity Director
Mary graduated with her BA in English. She previously studied Linguistic Anthropology at the University of South Carolina and East Asian politics in Korea. She is an avid traveler whose affairs with the open road (sky, sea) often compete with her abiding love of her home state, South Carolina. During her time at Barnard she was also a part of the Columbia Baha'fi Club and worked for the Arts Department at WKCR 89.9 fm (listen!), where she explored art and cultural life in New York City. Mary was also a founding member of Echoes with Alexandra Loizzo, '09

Ashley Melendez, '08

Webdesigner and Former Webmaster
Ashley graduated with her BA in Art History with a Concentration in Visual Arts. She minored in Psychology and also concentrated in East Asian Studies with a history discipline. She was blackmailed into creating the Echoes website and spent hours slaving away under Alex's strict rule. Ashley cracked under the pressure and went mad. Now free, she strives for world domination. The End.
