Confirming with
Clients: After being assigned a job (either in
person or via email), you are expected to call within 24
hours of receiving the client's information. However,
it is in your best interest to call as soon as you possibly
can. Please use the work number during
the day and the home number at night. If
you leave a message, be perfectly clear and include your
full name, your contact number, and the details of the event
for confirmation. Effective
October 9, 2007, if we hear from a client that he/she has
not heard from any of his/her bartenders, those who
have neglected to confirm will immediately be taken off of
the job. The bartender will be notified, and will
not be able to take the job back.
Cancellations:
If the client cancels within 48 hours of the event, we will waive a job fee. Under extreme circumstances, such as a cancellation after you’ve already arrived at the event, we will waive 2 job fees.
Job Fee Payments:
We do not accept job fees in cash unless paid to us in person. Job fees left at the front desk must be in check form only. If you wish to pay cash, you can come to our office hours. Currently, we keep two separate records of all job fees that are paid to us, but when cash goes missing it is out of our control. If you pay only cash in person to us, you will receive a carbon copy receipt of it and can personally ensure that it enters our records.
If you leave checks with us at the front desk, then should they go missing you will have a copy of the check in your records that you can show us.
When you leave job fees with the front desk, they should be in check form, in a clearly labeled, sealed envelope addressed to the
Barnard Bartending Agency with information identifying yourself, the amount of money, the date, and what jobs you are paying for.
Barnard and Columbia Departmental
Jobs: You may be asked to provide personal information in advance so that they can pay you on the day of the event. Other times, you will receive payment via check after the job has taken place because the funds will be transferred to us first. We are aware that this process is much slower than what our bartenders are accustomed to, which is payment at the conclusion of the event. However, this is a necessary process due to tax considerations,
and we encourage you to work one or two of these jobs
per year in an effort to give back to
Barnard.
Parting Gifts:
It should go without saying that you should NEVER drink on a job or take
"extra" alcohol from a client without their knowledge. However, if a client offers you stuff to take home, that is appropriate.
Feedback: We want to encourage you to use the feedback option on our website. We are always looking for ways to improve the agency.
